Today on our menu is the most healthy food item,the black lentils curry recipe.Black lentils are known to have nutrients like fiber,minerals,iron and Proteins and yet have low number of calories per single serving that keeps one full and satisfied which can greatly helps in weight loss. The fiber in lentils are help digestive disorders like constipation and hence the lentils are packed with a number of health benefits and one must add lentils to their menus.Black lentil sprouts are common item in salads nowadays and are easily grown at home.
The Black lentil curry recipe is very simple and takes almost 15 minutes time that includes both preparation and cooking time.We can keep it very simple or add spices on hand, again it has no any fix recipe and there is always room for you creativity with the food you cook. The ingredients I used for this recipe are
Black lentils boiled 1 cup
Ginger Paste 1 tbs
Garlic Paste 1 tbs
Chili flakes 1 tbs
Dried-Parsley 1/4 tsp
Tomatoes 1 cup
Onion 1 medium sized
Salt to taste
Cooking oil 2 tbs
In a pan add 2 tbs of cooking oil and fry the onions till they are golden brown.Then add ginger garlic paste and saute’ for a minute and then added the remaining ingredients except the lentils.
Cook the mixture till oil starts to separate from the mixture.At this point add the lentils and pour a cup of water, mixed it well.Let it cook with lid on for 5 minutes.The lentils are pre-boiled and with 5 minutes of cooking on low heat the curry is now ready to serve.Adding chopped green chili and fresh parsley adds to the flavor but it is totally optional.
Those who are on weight loss diet can eat it with a spoon like a soup.In Pakistan we generally eat black lentil curry with rice or chapati/Nan. People love to have some kind of pickle with it or finely chopped onion,green chili and tomato salad.
